Make-Up Artist Jo Freeman Published on Wednesday, 21 March 2012 09:54
Jo Freeman is a professionally trained make-up artist, specialising in fashion, TV, editorial and special occasion make-up. She has over six years worth of experience in the industry, and has built up a rather impressive clientele along the way. In this period, she has done work for Conde Nast, Wella, ASOS and many more, including an array of celebrity clients.
Jo does a lot of special occasion make up which can range from celebrity red carpet events and public appearances to bridal make up for that ‘big day’. From looking at her gallery (which you can view here on Fashion Rider), it is evident that she has got the skill of bringing out natural beauty crafted to perfection. Many of the looks Jo creates are minimal, defining and exaggerating features by using tones which compliment the individual’s skin and facial structure. She is able to create a refreshing ‘no makeup’ look, which would look beautiful on any bride!
Jo’s passion for the art of make-up stemmed from having to occasionally apply her own on shoots when working as a model. She then went on to train at the acclaimed Glauca Rossi School of Makeup. This experience of being both in-front-of and behind the scenes means that Jo knows exactly how to make her clients feel at ease - a skill invaluable when working in situations where nerves are inevitably running high.
If I had to select a favourite look created by Jo Freeman, I would be sure to face a struggle. I love this pale makeup style with the contrast of bright red lipstick. The colours compliment the model’s red hair beautifully to create connotations of the traditional English Rose, a look I have always found wonderfully striking despite the growing popular desire for the perfect ‘holiday tan’. Alternatively, this black lipstick and smokey eyed editorial look manages to avoid looking sinister and gothic against warm skin tones. It is a look so bold and intriguing; it is difficult not to be absorbed.
