Vicky Fallon graduated from Northampton University with a BA in Fashion design. However, she has found her forte in Fashion Illustration where she has won many awards. She has a diverse range of skills, from creating Fashion related illustrations for a wide range of clients to designing her own prints that are printed on to footwear.
Her designs are incredibly unique and very experimental. She uses a variety of mixed media forms to create her illustrations, including water colour and inks and Photoshop and illustrator. Many of Vicky’s illustration designs are extremely delicate and intricate and she certainly has an eye for detail. This illustration that was created for LUSH cosmetics to advertise their latest perfume range depicts her style perfectly. It is so detailed, that I had to look extremely close, in order not to miss an important part of the design.
She feels that using water colours is stepping out of her comfort zone. However, her dedication and willingness to take risks and experiment has paid off and enabled her to build an impressive client base and attract some very prestigious fans. Some of my favourite illustrations produced by Vicky have been created using watercolours.
For example, this beautiful water colour illustration of one of the designs from Mary Katrantzou’s A/W 2012 collection has caught the eye of the designer herself. Vicky has even had a number of requests to use it for advertising certain campaigns. The use of bold water colours gives the illustration an abstract and edgy look which fits perfectly with the audacious style of Mary Katrantzou’s designs.
