The sad news that Anna Piaggi died in her Milan home on 7th August, at 81 years of age has shocked the fashion world, with many paying tribute to her style and work. She will be remembered for her flamboyant wardrobe, bright make-up and as a highly recognisable face on the front row as well as her fabulous two-page spreads in Vogue Italia.
US Olympic Gold medallist in talks for clothing line
American swimmer Ryan Lochte is in high demand after winning multiple golds, silvers and bronze at London 2012! His agent has confirmed that multiple brands are interested in collaborating with him. The labels have not yet been revealed, but he already has endorsement deals with the likes of Ralph Lauren and Speedo.
Zara owner is world’s third richest man
Amancio Ortega can now boast that there are only two men in the world richer than him, one being Microsoft founder Bill Gates, as well being the owner of 59 percent of Inditex Group which owns Zara and Zara Home amongst others. He is reportedly worth £29.7 billion according to figures from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which is £1 billion up on last year and is mostly due to Zara profits increasing.
Is River Island making a move to the US?
River Island is reportedly set to open its first store in New York next year, this could coincide with the launch of their collaboration with Rihanna. Although the brand have yet to comment they will obviously be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Topshop, who have been a huge success following their launch in the US in 2009.
Victoria Beckham creates prescription glasses line
The prescription glasses line is set to be unveiled in October, and will be released next year. The inspiration comes from Victoria Beckham, who is short sighted, being unable to find glasses that she both liked and suited her, the collection will initially feature six frames branded with a V and are being handmade in Italy. The frames are not just for women, with several unisex frames available and one style reportedly being worn already by David Beckham – the perk of being the designer’s husband!
