First emerging in March 2017 with her debut single “My Lover”, Mica Millar has quickly established herself as one of the Northwests most revered up and coming artists of 2017. Selling out her first hometown show at Manchester’s Whiskey Jar, Mica followed in late August with “Not The First” and was awarded BBC Introducing’s prestigious “Artist of The Week” gaining her national radio support that followed headline shows at Liverpool’s Buyers Club, The Domino Club, Leeds and yet another sell out launch at The Deaf Institute, Manchester; a two-hundred-and-fifty capacity venue that marked the career turning point for follow Mancunian singer/songwriter, JP Cooper, who performed there in 2015 before signing to Island Records and topping the UK Charts.

The brand new video, released 28th November, comes as a result of Mica’s collaboration with award winning UK Director, Daniel Nickson, directors of photography Nick Wood and Luke Boland, stylist Gian Grainger and Dress Designer Robin Aarons.

Set inside the vast industrial space of a former cotton mill, Mica is seen performing on an old, upright piano wearing a dramatic red dress with a eccentrically long trail that spills back over the oil stained, stone floor.  Talking about the video’s concept, Mica said, “…the room represented the emptiness of being in a relationship that isn’t right and the sense of uncertainty attached to the ideology of finding ‘the one'”. “…the red dress was a symbol of lust, passion, desire and hopefulness within that space and the forest provided the juxtapose of freedom from the emotional isolation experienced through idealism or a relationship”.

The self-managed, DIY artists who has been responsible for both the creation and promotion of her releases to date, said that it was “…gratifying and rewarding” to have gained the level of support from both fans and the press having independently released both singles. “there is so much work behind the scenes that goes on from writing, recording, shooting videos, creating artwork, promoting the releases and live shows and there are a lot of people who have helped and supported me. I’m very grateful to them”.

In addition to her self-promoted launch shows, Mica’s powerful and emotive performances with her six-piece-band have also been showcased at some of her hometown’s most well renowned concert halls including The Contact Theatre, The 02 Ritz and The Lowry as well as at music festivals across the UK including two headline slots on Manchester International Festival’s acclaimed Festival Square stage.
