The government is changing some social contact restrictions for a short period of time. They recognise that people will want to be with their friends and family over Christmas, particularly after an incredibly difficult year. 

TIER 1: MEDIUM

  • Follow the rule of 6 if meeting indoors or outdoors
  • Pubs & restaurants to shut at 11pm
  • People encourages to minimise travel & work form home where possilbe
  • Spectators allowed at sports events & live perfomances (limited numbers)
  • Personal care including hairdressing allowed

TIER 2: HIGH

  • No household mixing indoors
  • Rule of 6 will apply outdoors
  • Pubs & restaurants to shut at 11pm
  • Alcohol only served as a part of substantial meal
  • Spectators allowed at sports events & live performances (limited numbers)
  • Personal care including hairdressing allowed

TIER 3: VERY HIGH

  • No household mixing indoors or outdoors in hospitality venues or private gardens
  • Rule of 6 applies in outdoor public spaces like parks
  • Pubs/restaurants closed except for delivery & takeaway
  • Indoor entertainment venues closed
  • Guidance against travelling in & out of the area
  • Personal care including hairdressing allowed
