At Vollebak we use science and technology to create clothing that no-one else can or will – clothes from the future.
In our first five years we’ve established a reputation for pushing the boundaries of clothing design and material technology, and we’re now looking for a Technical Designer to join our team.
This is a newly-created role and the first addition to our design team, so it’s an exciting opportunity for an early career designer with outstanding creative and technical skills who wants to work at the forefront of clothing innovation. The main focus of the role will be on producing world-class tech packs that enable us to produce apparel with outstanding design, quality and performance, so we’re looking for someone who’s creative but technically minded, and meticulous in their work.
The Technical Designer will work alongside our Design Director and our Co-founder as part of a tight-knit, high-impact design team, and there’ll be lots of potential for the role to develop as the company grows.
The experience and skills required for this role include:
an undergraduate degree in fashion or menswear, with a postgraduate qualification desirable
1-3 years’ professional experience in a technical design role or a broader design role with responsibility for tech pack creation
a strong interest in technical apparel, with a desire to work with innovative materials and advanced production methods
expert user of Adobe Illustrator for tech pack creation
sound knowledge of fabrics and trims
sound understanding of pattern cutting, with practical experience of pattern-cutting an advantage
outstanding attention to detail and an eye for spotting and fixing errors
well-organised, with the ability to prioritise work effectively, meet deadlines and maintain high standards even when working under pressure
able to work equally well autonomously and as part of a team
excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain design changes
a flexible mindset with strong creative problem-solving skills and the ability to rapidly adapt to changing priorities.
This is a permanent, full-time position available for immediate start, with a competitive salary based on experience, 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays) and a company pension and benefits package.
We’re currently working remotely, but we’re keen to get back to the office as soon as possible – so once COVID restrictions allow, this role will be based at our office on Charing Cross Road in central London. You’ll find that we’re a friendly team with a relaxed working environment
Promoting our members throughout the industry, providing exciting job opportunities and supporting them with increased visibility and valuable advice to ensure their journey is a long and successful one.
